AGRICULTURE

5. BENEFITS OF THE AGRICULTURAL POLICIES OF THE NATURAL LAW PARTY

Research has found that sustainable farming techniques result in fresher and purer food with higher concentrations of minerals; yields as great as or greater than current methods; lower costs of production, lower fiscal costs of maintaining farm incomes, lower environmental costs, better long-term profitability, and reduced erosion (U.S. National Research Council, "Alternative Agriculture", 1989; World Resources Institute, "Paying the Farm Bill: U.S. Agricultural Policy and the Transition to Sustainable Agriculture", 1991; American Journal of Alternative Agriculture, 1, 1987: 153; Texas Department of Agriculture, "Texas Agriculture: Growing a Sustainable Economy", 1990). In addition, lower chemical inputs mean fewer health problems.

Research has found that Transcendental Meditation and Yogic Flying increase creativity, productivity, intelligence and energy; progressively develop higher states of consciousness; and bring more support of Nature to the individual. Additional published scientific research findings on this programme of importance to farmers include increased physiological and psychological adaptability, reduced stress, improved resistance to stressful situations, improved mental health, improved cardiovascular health, increased effectiveness, increased productivity and work satisfaction, reduced accidents and sickness, and improved quality of life in society. (See section on Scientific Research.)

Taken together, these benefits translate into significant cost savings: billions of pounds in the short-term and even larger savings in the long-term.
