The Natural Law Party government will implement a three-phase plan to eliminate public borrowing and quickly pay off the national debt:

1. Reducing expenditure without cutting services, solving problems at their basis:

The Natural Law Party government will achieve a balanced budget within three years. It will eliminate the deficit (currently 22 billion annually) by reducing public expenditure through proven, cost-effective solutions to the underlying problems, rather than through arbitrary spending cuts or by raising taxes, which can only cause further suffering. Our prevention-oriented administration will disallow the emergence of problems by providing complete knowledge of Natural Law, so that people will be able to administer their own lives spontaneously in the right direction, preventing problems before they arise.

For example, Transcendental Meditation has been shown to reduce the need for doctor visits and hospital care by over 50%. This alone will reduce health care expenditure by over 20 billion annually. Our proven programmes to reduce crime rate, recidivism, absenteeism, unemployment, and all other social problems will similarly reduce expenditure in those areas, saving the government a total of 108 billion after three years.

These predictions are not idle conjectures. Every programme of the Natural Law Party is based on established scientific principles, and is supported by extensive scientific research. These programmes have been verified by over 500 studies performed at more than 200 research institutions in 27 countries worldwide. Over the past 15 years, these programmes have been field-tested and found to be successful in reversing negative trends in society and promoting growth and progress in the life of the nation.

2. Increasing production by enlivening creativity in national consciousness:

As creativity increases in national consciousness through our programmes to enliven the evolutionary power of Natural Law, production of goods and services will be greatly enhanced and personal and corporate incomes will increase, creating higher revenues even with lower tax rates.

3. Using the profits from engaging the unemployed in projects of general use to society:

Some of the projects in which the unemployed will be engaged will generate profits that will be used to pay off the national debt. We will be careful to choose projects that do not compete with existing businesses in order not to cause dislocations in the private sector.

We will eliminate public borrowing in our first term of office

Implementation of this plan would eliminate public borrowing (currently 22 billion annually) within our first term of office and would allow us to reduce taxes substantially, thereby further stimulating economic growth. (Please refer to Taxation section.) As the economy flourishes, the ratio of the national debt to GDP (Gross Domestic Product) will decrease rapidly. This, in conjunction with decreased expenditure and increased revenues described above, will enable us to pay off the national debt. Through this plan Britain's vulnerability to foreign investors will finally be eliminated.

Inviting past Conservative and Labour ministers to join a debt creators commission to find means to repay the national debt they created

The Natural Law Party will make all efforts to discharge the national debt created by past administrations. But at the same time, we will establish a Debt Creators Commission (DCC), composed of prime ministers and Cabinet ministers of past Conservative and Labour governments who will be invited to find means to repay the debt that they irresponsibly created through their mismanagement.

Past leaders of the Conservative and Labour parties will have their creativity put to the test to discharge this 380 billion debt, which has placed all future governments and the British people in such an unfortunate situation. By volunteering their time to find the means to repay the debt, they will atone at least in part for the breach of the confidence that the people innocently put in their leadership.

The Natural Law Party government will introduce legislation to prevent any future government from indebting the nation. Before every election, the incumbent government would have to present its books to the public, and the books would have to be balanced.

The Natural Law Party is opposed to gambling, including the National Lottery, as a government-sponsored means of raising money. Gambling destabilises the hearts and minds of the people and promotes negative trends in society (see section on National Heritage for the alternatives we propose).
