MANIFESTO
EUROPEAN POLICY The hazards associated with the transformation from self-sufficient, traditional farming to industrialised, agrochemical-dependent farming have been exacerbated by the economic framework set by the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP). The often artificial constraints set by the CAP result in even higher usage of chemicals, overproduction and waste, a loss in the traditional diversity of crop production, and economic pressures that create disadvantages for the small traditional farming units. The Natural Law Party agriculture policy urges a complete reform of the CAP to rectify these imbalances, encourage sustainable farming, minimise bureaucratic intervention, and promote natural, organic agriculture (see section on Agriculture).
