Natural Law Parties to Solve EU Problems

The Leaders of the Natural Law Parties of the EU countries are assembling in Dublin from 12-15 December, parallel to the "Meeting of the European Council", to hold their own summit to decide on effective solutions to the problems of the European Union. The Natural Law Parties (NLP) have already several million voters and are active in over 50 countries worldwide and throughout the EU.

European Union on the Basis of Fully Sovereign Nations

During a press conference, Dr. Reinhard Borowitz, Secretary General of the Maharishi European Council of Natural Law Parties and chairman of the NLP summit, explained to the media in detail the scientifically validated approaches of the Natural Law Party to drastically reduce the urgent problems in the EU. In his presentation. Dr. Borowitz made it clear that the European Union will only be working harmoniously on the basis of fully sovereign nations. "Only the invincible power of natural law has the ability to uphold and strengthen both values at the same time: the sovereignty of each nation, as well as the union of all nations working in harmony together," he added.

Solutions for the Main Points of the Irish Presidency Proposal

Thomas Mullins, Chairman of the Natural Law Party of Ireland, addressed the main points of the Irish Presidency Proposals, which the Heads of State and the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the EU members states and of the "Associated Countries" are discussing during their summit.

Mr. Mullins pointed out that the NLP is offering the only real solution to the problems of crime, drug trafficking, terrorism, unemployment, common foreign and security policy, and the Petersberg tasks by ensuring the establishment of a coherence-creating group of 7.000 experts in Maharishi's Transcendental Meditation and Yogic Flying in the EU. "Such a 'Group for a Government' is capable of reducing stress and tension in society, as has been documented by over 40 sociological research studies, many of which have been published by leading scientific journals," Mr. Mullins explained. He continued: "The result will be greater harmony, coherence, and peace in the collective consciousness of Europe, which is a prerequisite to solve regional and ethnic conflicts, including those in Northern Ireland, Basque Country, and Bosnia-Herzegovina, and which lays the foundation for a true integration of Western and Eastern Europe and permanent peace in the world."

With respect to the present health care crisis, the Natural Law Party programmes emphasise promoting a prevention-oriented health care system, adopting cost-effective and scientifically-proven approaches of natural medicine, such as Maharishi Ayur-Veda, which has been shown to reduce the sickness rate by 50% over a three-year period.

European Monetary Union - The Solution: Coherence, Integration, and Dynamism in the National Consciousness of Each Member State

Dr. Geoffrey Clements, Leader of the Natural Law Party of the United Kingdom, presented the Natural Law Parties' stand on European Monetary Union. "It is very dangerous to impose monetary union when it is patently clear that we are not ready for it," emphasised Dr. Clements. "Equally the 'wait and see' policy of the British government endangers the stability of the EU and reveals a conspicuous absence of both intelligence and purpose."

Dr. Clements continued "Clearly monetary union is desirable in that it provides stability for internal and international trade, it disallows predatory speculation on a national currency, and it disallows one nation from artificially manipulating its currency for unfair trade advantage."

"The solution to the crisis in the field of monetary union is available," Dr. Clements explained: "Monetary union must be based on true stability of each currency, which in turn should be based on the stability of national economy. Equally economic stability cannot be artificially contrived - as is clear from the turbulent economic history of each country during the past few years."

Dr. Clements emphasised that economic stability and dynamism can be created only by strengthening the basis of the economy. At the individual level, this means unfolding full creative potential. At the national level, it means creating coherence, integration and dynamism in the collective consciousness.

The Natural Law Party's prescription for successful financial union is to create coherence in collective consciousness, verify the effectiveness by monitoring economic stability and a quality of life index, determining the stability of the currency, linking the currencies, and finally introducing a single currency only when the stability of all the European currencies is clearly demonstrated.
