1.000 delegates attend largest ever Natural Law Party convention

Propose establishment of a Vedic Peace Corps and the creation of global administration based on Natural Law to solve problems where EU, NATO and UN have failed

Today, the Natural Law Parties of 60 countries proclaimed their intention to make every nation in the world invincible through the establishment of a Vedic Peace Corps.

"This new programme of the Natural Law Party will create such an indomitable influence of peace and harmony in world consciousness that enmity will not arise," said Dr Bevan Morris, Leader of the Natural Law Party of Australia. Dr Morris was addressing over 1,000 delegates attending the Fourth International Convention of Leaders of the Natural Law Party. The convention took place from 17-21 July in Bonn, Germany, at the magnificent Maritim Hotel and was attended by the leaders, managers, elected representatives and candidates of the Natural Law Parties of 60 countries.

In addition, many diplomats and politicians of other parties visited the conference in order not to miss out on the emergence of this new force in world politics. It was clear from the reports of the Natural Law Party leaders to the convention that the party is riding on a wave of increasing acceptance around the world. At the same time, politics in general is moving more and more in the direction of Natural Law Party policies.

Dr Morris said: "The time of the blind leading the blind is over. This is not going to be the reality any more. People are going to rise to assume their rights – the support of the full evolutionary power of Natural Law, which will bring peace, prosperity, freedom from disease, ideal education, healthy food and a pollution-free environment to everyone," he said.

Unique approach to peace

Dr Neil Paterson, leader of the Natural Law Party of Canada, explained the uniqueness of the Natural Law Party's approach to maintain peace. "The prevention of international conflict has traditionally been based on negotiations and on constantly trying to maintain friendly relations with other countries," he said. "But history shows that friendship today can easily turn to enmity and invasion tomorrow.

"Since 1,000 B.C. there have been over 8,000 peace treaties, each one lasting on average no more than nine years. It is obvious that political negotiations, treaties, and the amassing of arms have never succeeded in creating a lasting state of peace."

In the context of NATO's recent moves towards enlargement into Eastern Europe, Dr Paterson said the simple and profound approach of the Vedic Peace Corps makes a "laughing stock" of the military's attempt to keep the peace through its weapons, artillery and other equipment. "In fact, while NATO extends into Poland and other countries, supposedly to help keep the peace in Europe, Russia is increasingly cornered and far worse tension could soon flare up," he said. "Governments are living in a fool's paradise if they think that they can rely solely on the military for defence."

Dr Paterson explained that the Vedic Peace Corps will comprise 7,000 experts in Maharishi's Vedic technology of consciousness – Transcendental Meditation and Yogic Flying. "The Vedic Peace Corps will remove the basic obstacle to international stability – the accumulation of stress in collective consciousness – and thereby create a unified, harmonious family of sovereign nations," he said.

EU taken over by a military power

Dr Reinhard Borowitz, Secretary General of the Maharishi International Council of Natural Law Parties, made scathing remarks about the previous day's announcement that the European Union is also initiating steps to expand into Eastern Europe.

"This shows that the European Union has gone into the pocket of a military power," Dr Borowitz said. "The announcement by the President of the EU that negotiations are starting for East European nations to join the Union shows that the EU is just following in the steps of NATO. This is a blatant sign of slavery. American troops are no longer in Europe. But if Germany and its neighbours don't wake up, we don't know how much time there is before NATO takes over completely."

Dr Borowitz said that the only safety and security for any country lies in establishing a Vedic Peace Corps. He praised former Lieutenant Colonel Gunter Chasse for being the first to start such a group.

Vedic Peace Corps founded in Germany

Shortly after retiring from the German Air Force, Lt. Col. Chasse founded a Vedic Peace Corps in Bonn on 9 May 1997. Volunteers to the Corps practise Transcendental Meditation and Yogic Flying together daily.

Lt. Col. Chasse made a strong appeal to the youth of every country. He called particularly on unemployed young people to become Yogic Flyers and form a Vedic Peace Corps of 7-10,000 to serve their country. He called on governments and industry to support the initiative. "Peace and security are possible only when each country enjoys perfect invincibility and is capable of defending itself by its own strength and its own means," he said.

Dr Geoffrey Clements, Leader of the Natural Law Party of the United Kingdom, said: "It is high time for every government and every international organisation to realise that only by implementing the knowledge and technologies of Natural Law and creating coherence in national and world consciousness through the groups of Yogic Flyers will they be able to fulfil the purpose of government and bring progress and fulfilment to everyone. By establishing global and national administration based on Natural Law, our programmes can save the time and energy of every country in resolving problems. Otherwise everyone's life will continue to be a football of circumstances created by party politics."

Impassioned plea from Eastern Europe

At the end of the news conference the Natural Law Party leaders of Poland, Hungary and the Czech Republic made an impassioned plea. Alena Citterbergova of the Czech Republic said: "We must say 'no' to the proposals of NATO and the EU. We should not allow the intervention of military powers into our countries. Our peoples have not yet forgotten the misery of World War II and yet now again we are being manoeuvred into re-arming and buying new weapons. We have somehow allowed the intervention of Western military power into our countries, but we can defend our nations perfectly well with the help of a Vedic Peace Corps."

Yogic flying creates a "field effect" of coherence in society

During a news conference on 18 July at the Convention, experts from 20 countries demonstrated Yogic Flying and later described the subjective experience of "bubbling bliss" that it gave them. Dr John Hagelin, quantum physicist and Presidential candidate of the Natural Law Party of the USA, discussed the extensive research on Yogic Flying. "Yogic Flying is enormously beneficial for the individual, producing maximum coherence in brain functioning, according to EEG studies. At the same time, when groups of people practise Yogic Flying together it creates a 'field effect' on the level of human consciousness - an influence of coherence and positivity that radiates out into the environment neutralising stress, conflict, crime and other negative trends while enlivening positive social and economic trends."

Dr Hagelin cited 42 sociological studies over the past 20 years, many published in prestigious academic journals, showing dramatic improvements in society when the square root of 1% of the population practices Transcendental Meditation and Yogic Flying together every morning and evening. A demonstration project in Washington DC in 1993, for example, led to a 2l% decrease in crime when a group of 4,000 Yogic Flyers assembled there for two months. The formula indicates that a group of 7-10,00O Yogic Flyers would produce a positive transformation in the whole world.

"Both modern science and ancient Vedic science locate the source of Nature's perfect order in a single self-interacting field at the foundation of all the Laws of nature," Dr Hagelin said. "Maharishi's Vedic Science gives access to that level of the Unified Field of all the Laws of Nature on a subjective level through the experience of Transcendental Consciousness. This creates a unifying and nourishing influence for the whole society bringing life spontaneously in accord with Natural Law."
