NATURAL LAW - THE ONLY GLOBAL POWER THAT CAN SECURE PEACE AND PROSPERITY FOR THE MILLENNIUM

International Convention of Natural Law Parties develops new strategies to bring the message of Natural Law to every citizen and to create an ideal, problem-free world

Following a year of rapid expansion worldwide, 300 delegates from the Natural Law Parties of 42 countries are meeting in Bonn for their Sixth International Convention. During two days of intensive discussions on 26 and 27 July delegates are reviewing their achievements and developing new strategies to achieve mass global support for the party's policies to create a peaceful, prosperous world in the new millennium.

Opinion poll highlights growing support for Natural Law policies Dr Reinhard Borowitz, Convention Chairman and Leader of the Natural Law Party of Germany, said: "In the past year alone the number of countries where the Natural Law Party is active has expanded from 60 to over 80 and we have seen substantial progress in many countries. Following our recent campaign in Germany for the national and European elections, a public opinion poll found that 29% of people felt that Transcendental Meditation should be included in the field of politics to help solve conflicts in society."

The Natural Law Party promotes the use of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi's Transcendental Meditation technique and its advanced aspect, Yogic Flying, since over 600 scientific research studies conducted at research institutions worldwide over the last 20 years have clearly established the effectiveness of this programme to resolve stress and conflict and improve the quality of life.

On target for 2,000 candidates in USA Dr John Hagelin, a Harvard-trained quantum physicist and presidential candidate for the Natural Law Party of the USA, said that each time the Natural Law Party has contested elections in the USA since was founded in 1992 its share of the vote has increased fourfold. He said "The interest in the Natural Law Party in the US is so great that we are on target to run 2,000 candidates on the ballot in all 50 states for next year's election, making us the largest third-party in US political history.

Dr Hagelin explained that the US media is calling the 2000 election "The Year of the Third Party" because there is such high voter distrust of the Republicans and Democrats, and because neither of these two parties are offering the nation any substantive new solutions to America's problems. "In this atmosphere of a new openness to new political voices, the Natural Law Party is emerging as the best possible party to lead the nation into the new millennium. This is because of our forward-looking, prevention-oriented, scientifically-based platform that supports prevention-oriented health care, education that develops the full mental potential of the student, renewable energy technologies, organic agriculture, and a foreign policy that promotes a harmonious, prosperous family of nations," he said.

Benoît Frappé, leader of the Natural Law Party of France, reflected on the economic challenges and delicate environmental issues facing each individual nation and the whole world. "Only policies that are fully in accord with Natural Law will carry the world through successfully to the next century. We will introduce Natural Law based principals of business and industry that will unfold the full creative potential of everyone and support and promote progress on the ground of pure, pious principles, nourishing everyone and damaging no one."

Natural Law government officials bring order to administration The Convention heard strong endorsements of Natural Law Party policies from the party's elected officials. Gabriella Guarguaglini, said that in the few weeks since her election to the City Council of Livorno in Italy she has seen a new order and coherence come into Council proceedings. Susanne Camelia Römer, Prime Minister of the Netherlands Antilles said that Natural Law Party programmes improve the decision-making ability of leaders. She also described an initiative to train a group of Yogic Flyers in order to create a more harmonious society and plans to use Natural Law programmes to tackle drug trafficking. Brigitte Rodes, Deputy Mayor of Terre-Basse, Guadeloupe, who won 24% of the votes in her city in the recent European elections, attributed her success to the growing friendliness between party members and the public "Appreciation swells up as people recognise our sincerity and realise the good sense behind all of our policies," she said.

A powerful technology to create world peace The Natural Law Party has been particularly active in recent months in the context of the Yugoslav crisis. The party appealed repeatedly to NATO leaders to use its strategies to create and maintain peace in the region rather than using destructive approaches that deepen the misery. Dr Geoffrey Clements, Leader of the Natural Law Party of the UK, said: "During Yogic Flying there is maximum coherence or orderliness in brain functioning. When groups of people practise Yogic Flying together it creates a powerful effect of coherence that radiates to the environment, decreasing stress and increasing integration and positivity in the area. This is a field effect of consciousness, just as radio or TV waves radiate out through the electromagnetic field.

"Many scientific studies have verified the effect of groups of experts in Yogic Flying. In Britain, the crime rate in Merseyside came down by 60% relative to other metropolitan areas after a group of Yogic Flyers was set up nearby. In another study from the Middle East, war deaths and the intensity of war fell substantially. A new study just published shows that a group of Yogic Flyers produced a 23% drop in violent crime in Washington DC. The research clearly indicates that a group of 7,000 experts in Yogic Flying will create an effect that will bring peace and stability worldwide."

Dr Clements said that the Natural law Party would like to establish a group of 7,000 Yogic Flyers on every continent as soon as possible.

Thomas Mullins, Chairman of the Natural Law Party of Northern Ireland, added: "The source of conflicts and problems in Northern Ireland, the Balkans, or anywhere, lies deeper than race, religion, politics or paramilitary groups. These problems should be viewed not as Serbs fighting Albanians or Catholics fighting Protestants but rather as stress fighting stress.

"Violation of Natural Law creates a build-up of stress in individual and collective consciousness," he said. "This is the basic cause of all fear, intolerance and violence. Only relief from stress in society can resolve these problems."

Moving reports from Serbia and Croatia The Convention was deeply moved when it heard from the Natural Law Party leaders of Croatia and Serbia of their efforts to bring peace during the bombing of Yugoslavia. Croatian party leader Zoran Krneta had appealed to Yogic Flyers from all over the world to come immediately to Dubrovnik close to the border with Kosovo to practice this programme together. When the group reached about 350 Yogic Flyers the destruction ended. Efforts are now underway to set up a permanent coherence-creating group of Yogic Flyers in the region.

Branko Cicic, the Natural Law Party leader from Serbia described the intense efforts during the period of NATO bombing to relieve stress and create a peaceful influence within Serbia itself. Even while the bombs were falling hundreds of people were taught Transcendental Meditation and groups were practising Yogic Flying together in many Serb cities. Mr Cicic said that collective consciousness is still very turbulent in the region and it is now vital to expand the groups of Yogic Flyers to bring permanent peace to the region and to Europe and the world.

A global party with global solutions "As we reach the new millennium, every country is more than ever subject to the process of globalisation," Dr Borowitz said. "Whether we consider the global economy, the impact of new scientific developments such as genetic engineering, international crime, or changes in weather patterns, no country can now deal with such problems on its own. The Natural Law Party is the only party with scientifically proven solutions to global problems and the world-wide base from which to implement these solutions."
