Natural Law Party calls upon British and Irish governments to implement the only proven technology to create peace
London, 10 February 1996
Natural Law Party leader Dr Geoffrey Clements today called upon the governments in London and Dublin to realize their determination to further the peace process in Northern Ireland by implementing the only scientifically validated method to resolve conflict and create peace.
"Success in the search for peace in Northern Ireland is entirely dependent upon the level of integration and harmony in society in Britain and Ireland," Dr Clements said. "Negotiations will never make progress unless something is done to dissolve stress and raise the level of coherence in national consciousness.
"There is now a reliable means to create integrated national consciousness. This is by establishing a permanent group of experts practising Maharishi's Transcendental Meditation and Yogic Flying," he said.
Scientific research
Conflict, crime, and other negative trends are dramatically reduced through this technology, Dr Clements said. This is confirmed by 42 scientific research studies conducted over the past twenty years and published in distinguished academic journals. "This is now the best validated of all findings in the social sciences," he said. See fact sheet
Specifically, Dr Clements proposed the immediate establishment of a permanent group of 7,000 people practising Transcendental Meditation and Yogic Flying together twice daily. According to the research this will be a sufficient number to guarantee a stable peace throughout Britain and Ireland.
Repeated approaches to government
"Over the past few years the Natural Law Party has repeatedly approached the two governments with the full details of this research and proposals to implement the new technology," Dr Clements said.
"Individual government members always express interest and enthusiasm, but publicly they will not take the necessary steps to take advantage of this unique opportunity for peace.
"This is an absolute crime against life," he said. "Must innocent people be condemned to struggle through violence and conflict because government is too dull and weak to adopt new knowledge? Creating an integrated society is the only way to secure success in the negotiations. There is nothing to be lost by trying this new approach."
Appeal to wealthy people
Since governments have been slow to respond, Dr Clements appealed to wealthy people and philanthropists in Britain and Ireland to support the establishment of a group of 7,000 Yogic Flyers.
Dr Clements also announced that the Natural Law Party is starting a campaign to encourage the 200,000 people who have already learned Transcendental Meditation and the 3,000 Yogic Flyers in Britain and Ireland to practise the techniques together in groups in their own locality each morning and evening.
"With the use of this technology to enliven the evolutionary and nourishing power of Natural Law, we have a unique opportunity to create a conflict-free, crime-free society," he said.
