STATEMENT FOR THE PRESS

FORMING A GOVERNMENT COMPOSED OF THE MOST SUCCESSFUL PEOPLE IN THE COUNTRY

The Natural Law Party presents the list of people it will invite to run each department of government.

London, 14th May 1996

The Natural Law Party today gave new meaning to the concept of all-party government. At a news conference in London, the party presented the list of nationally renowned and respected people it will invite to lead each department of the government if it wins the next general election (see list on page 3).

Explaining the initiative, Natural Law Party leader Dr Geoffrey Clements said that if his party is elected it will call upon successful leaders in every field to run government departments.

"Cabinet ministers will delegate significant responsibility and authority for the management of the nation’s life to these great men and women, rather than to career public servants as they do now," Dr Clements said.

"These leaders would be invited, without regard to their political affiliation, to form a government run in the spirit of national service, free from the poison of party politics, dedicated to nourishing and bringing satisfaction to everyone in the nation," he said.

Bringing success and the support of Natural Law to the government

The Natural Law Party believes that the administration of the nation should be in the hands of the most successful individuals in the country –- those who have already demonstrated in their own lives the highest degree of creativity, alertness, organising power, and good fortune.

"If such individuals were to run the government then they would automatically bring to government the success and the support of Natural Law that they enjoy in their own lives," Dr Clements said.

When presenting the list, Dr Clements emphasised that the individuals have not yet been approached in this context and will be invited to take these posts only when the Natural Law Party has a majority and is ready to form a government. He said: "If the Natural Law Party is the first choice of the people, then these national figures are the first choice of the Natural Law Party."

He added that in the all-party government of the Natural Law Party the cabinet will be composed of the most competent individuals from all parties represented in parliament.

The right of the people

The Natural Law Party holds that it is the right of the people to know which individuals will be running the country if they vote for a particular party. "Only on that basis can they make the right choice," Dr Clements said.

He encouraged all political parties in the UK to adopt this approach, both for national and local government, inviting the best minds and greatest experts to bless the nation and offer their expertise for constructive progress in the country.

Truly democratic government

Natural Law Party chairman David Lines pointed out another feature of the party’s plan to form a truly democratic all-party government.

"The Natural Law Party government will not be centred around one person," Mr Lines said. "The prime minister will delegate full responsibility and power for each area of government to the successful people invited to run that area.

"The prime minister himself will take overall responsibility to ensure the support of Natural Law for the country. He will focus on establishing and maintaining a group of 7,000 experts who will practise Maharishi’s Transcendental Meditation and Yogic Flying in order to create an integrated, coherent national consciousness.

"By experiencing maximum coherence in brain functioning and bubbling bliss during Yogic Flying, this group will radiate harmony and happiness in collective consciousness, neutralise stress and negativity, and bring the support of Natural Law to the whole of national life. This alone is the basis on which any government can be successful," he said.
