The Natural Law Party feels that the current debate about corruption in government is missing the point. There are basic factors creating this situation which are not being addressed at all. We offer two unique approaches to prevent corruption and sleaze.

Firstly the functioning of the government is just a reflection of the quality of life in the nation as a whole. If a nation is stressed, incoherent and unhealthy any government inevitably reflects that. We will promote all possible means to bring life in accord with Natural Law and eliminate this negativity in society. This includes prevention-oriented natural health care, a pollution-free environment and healthy natural agriculture. This will deal with the basic problem that so many people are unhealthy and as a result just not thinking correctly. At the same time we will establish a group of 7,000 experts in Transcendental Meditation and Yogic Flying – a thoroughly validated programme to eliminate crime and stress in society and promote positive trends.

By making the nation more healthy and integrated these programmes will automatically make the government more clear and orderly in its thinking and therefore in is actions.

Every leader, no matter how well-intentioned or honourable they are, is subject to innumerable pressures from the environment. Our second approach will be to protect the individual members of parliament from the influences that are making them behave incoherently and inappropriately. Maharishi’s Vedic Approach to Health offers a comprehensive system to deal with all these factors. this includes means to prevent sickness, building and designing homes and offices so that they have a healthy influence, and so on. in conclusion, these two approaches will eliminate corruption and sleaze at their source. A campaign against sleaze will never be successful as long as these problems are not dealt with.
