Natural Law Parties of the EU nations launch their
campaign for the European Parliament elections and present their common
Manifesto
Key issue: Immediate implementation of 3-point action plan
to end war in Yugoslavia
Brussels, 22 April 1999
Natural Law Party leaders from European Union countries
came together in Brussels today to launch their campaign for the European
Parliament elections in June and to announce their common Manifesto.
The first focus of their campaign is the implementation of a three-point
action plan to end the war in Yugoslavia.
The Natural Law Party is the first party to contest
the European elections with a common Manifesto in all EU countries.
The Manifesto offers unique and practical policies for the EU, backed
up by hundreds of published scientific studies - policies to resolve
problems in all key areas, including: peace in the Balkans; EMU; structural
funds; EU enlargement; elimination of corruption and excesses in expenditure;
problems of cross-border crime and pollution.
The theme of the Manifesto is "Natural Law Unites".
It calls on everyone to vote for the proven programmes of the Natural
Law Party in order to create a truly united and peaceful Europe as
the first step to a united problem-free world family of nations.
Saving the EU 1,500 billion Euro
The Natural Law Party calculates that its scientifically
validated policies will save 1,500 billion Euro from the budgets of
the EU and its member states, not by introducing cuts in expenditure
but by removing the problems which at present necessitate the expenditure.
The Natural Law Party has gained increasing support
and recognition throughout Europe in recent years for its unique Natural
Law-based policies and programmes. The party plans to field several
hundred candidates across the EU in the June elections. The first
European Parliament election that the party contested was in 1994
when they had about two million supporters.
Open letter to NATO and EU governments: Three-point
action plan to end war in Yugoslavia
As the first stage of their campaign the EU Natural
Law Parties are implementing immediately a three-point action plan
to bring peace to the Balkans.
As one aspect of this plan, the Natural Law Party leaders
assembled in Brussels have made an urgent call to all heads of government
and heads of the armed forces in NATO and EU countries to use the
technologies of Natural Law to end the war in Yugoslavia and create
world peace. In an open letter issued today the Natural Law Party
leaders state that NATO's bombardment of Yugoslavia has created widespread
fear and has set a dangerous example for every nation in the world:
if you don't like another country, and they won't obey you, then you
bomb them and destroy them.
Dr Reinhard Borowitz, leader of the Natural Law Party
of Germany, said: "NATO's action effectively legitimises the
principle of foreign policy through violent attack, opening up the
possibility of such conflicts arising anywhere in the world at any
time. We urgently appeal to NATO and EU leaders to reconsider this
perilous approach and to try a new strategy that calms down violence,
rather than fanning the flames of hatred and conflict.
"The way to create peace is to take recourse to
Natural Law," Dr Borowitz continued. "It is possible now
to create a powerful influence of coherence and positivity inside
or outside any country with a group of experts in the technologies
of Natural Law, such as Maharishi's Transcendental Meditation and
Yogic Flying. The group of experts in Natural Law will neutralise
the clouds of stress in society that give rise to war and will create
an atmosphere in which a stable solution will naturally emerge."
Dr Geoffrey Clements, leader of the Natural Law Party
of the UK, explained that 42 thoroughly validated scientific studies
had demonstrated this effect in different parts of the world over
the past 20 years. "The incontrovertible conclusion of the research
is that a group of 10,000 experts practising the technologies of Natural
Law together in one place would create an indomitable influence of
peace in world consciousness."
He said that one way to achieve this large group would
be to train the 10,000 NATO troops now stationed in the Balkans to
practise the peace-making technology of Natural Law for a short period
each morning and evening. He offered the full support of the Natural
Law Party in providing training for the group. Dr Clements warned,
"There is an old adage: 'As you sow, so shall you reap.' Even
from this point of view, NATO leaders would be well advised to take
a more constructive approach, lest the destroyer become the destroyed."
Endowment Fund for Perpetual World Peace
The second aspect of the Natural Law Party's peace plan
is an advertising campaign inviting wealthy people to contribute to
a special endowment fund to support such a group of experts in Natural
Law on a permanent basis. The war in Yugoslavia is "a challenge
to the wealthy of the world to save their own wealth and the life
of all the people in the nation" state the announcements in the
Financial Times and other newspapers.
The third action point in the peace plan is to invite
all those in the world who already practise Yogic Flying to come immediately
to Dubrovnik (less than 100 kms from the Yugoslav border) to practise
the technique together in a large group in order to create an immediate
influence of peace throughout the region.
Thomas Mullins, leader of the Natural Law Party of Northern
Ireland, pointed out that the presence of a group of 100 Yogic Flyers
in Northern Ireland during last year's elections for the new Northern
Ireland Assembly made it the most peaceful election ever in the province.
"This experience confirms the findings of many published studies.
For example, research on the Lebanon civil war published in Yale's
Journal of Conflict Resolution clearly shows that the presence of
a group of people practising the technologies of Natural Law dramatically
reduces the level of conflict.
"There is nothing to lose, and much to gain, by
trying this peaceful solution. By reducing tensions and hostility,
new possibilities would emerge spontaneously for different communities
to live at peace with each other," Mr Mullins said. Other Natural
Law Party leaders present at the news conference included Benoit Frappe
(France); Dr Paulo Menoni (Italy); Leopold Fransen (Belgium); Francisco
Alvarez (Spain); and Georgia Assimakis (Greece).
