Natural Law Party comment on the bombing of the Chinese Embassy

Violent methods will always have unforeseen consequences. Instead, use the technologies of Natural Law to end the conflict

9 May 1999

As NATO's latest mistake threatens to involve China in the war, the Natural Law Party again urged that the conflict be swiftly brought to an end using the proven technologies of Natural Law.

'A group of 10,000 experts in Transcendental Meditation and Yogic Flying would resolve the crisis overnight,' said the party's defence spokesman Nigel Kahn. 'The cost would be negligible compared to that of the present military action. And there would be no unpredicted side-effects such as the bombing of the Chinese embassy.  The simple technologies of Natural Law create peace, not by talking or by bombing but by radiating an influence of peace in society from the level of infinite peace in the unbounded ocean of consciousness within every human being.'

Over 40 scientific studies have shown that crime, violence and other negative trends are reduced whenever a sufficiently large group of experts in Transcendental Meditation and Yogic Flying practises these techniques together twice daily. A published scientific study (Journal of Conflict Resolution, 1988) found dramatic reductions in war deaths in Lebanon when Yogic Flying groups were set up in Jerusalem in 1983.

'NATO is attempting to control the situation through military action,' Nigel Kahn said. 'But by its very nature, violence is impossible to control, and has unforeseen consequences. Who would have predicted a week ago that today the whole world could be in danger of war, thanks to one stray bomb?'

Last month the Natural Law Party issued a statement warning: 'NATO has set a terrifying example to the world: It has in effect legitimised the principle of foreign policy through violent attack. If you don't like a country and they won't obey you, then you just bomb them and destroy them.  But the destroyer could become the destroyed - Britain could itself become the target of bombs.' With the recent incident, that possibility has looked more likely.

Natural Law Party initiatives to resolve the Yugoslavia crisis

The Natural Law Party is appealing to wealthy people to support a group of Yogic Flyers, in the absence of any willingness from the side of the government. The party is also doing its utmost to resolve the conflict with whatever resources it has available to it. A privately funded group of Yogic Flyers has been established in Dubrovnik, less than 100 miles from Kosovo. As the group grows in size (currently there are 250 participants), moves towards peace in the region can be expected.

In the UK, all of those people who practise Transcendental Meditation and Yogic Flying are being urged to do so in groups rather than on their own, wherever possible. Several years ago, a similar initiative produced a sudden marked improvement in the situation in Northern Ireland. The party's current initiative is designed to help neutralise the stress in national consciousness that is at present causing the British government to pursue military action.

The Natural Law Party is placing its solution to the Yugoslavia crisis at the centre of its European election manifesto, which is being launched in London and in other EU capitals on 12 May. The party is fielding a full slate of 87 candidates in the UK.
