Natural Law Party urges Conservatives not to support bombing of Yugoslavia

The Natural Law Party today urged the Conservative Party not to support Nato^s bombing of Yugoslavia and its plans to involve ground forces, but instead to support the Natural Law Party's proven approach to creating peace - an approach which has received further confirmation this week with a major new research study showing that crime, violence and conflict can be reduced quickly and effectively through the technologies of Natural Law (see below).

Commenting on the news that the Conservative leader William Hague is 'speaking as Blair's emissary' (Daily Telegraph headline) to a conference in Bonn of centre-right European parties and is backing plans for British troops to be sent into Kosovo, Dr Geoffrey Clements, leader of the Natural Law Party said:

"This action will fan the flames of war in Yugoslavia. It intensifies the need for the Natural Law Party's solution to be adopted - to create an indomitable influence of peace in the region."

Last month the Natural Law Party called on Nato governments to establish a peace- keeping force of 10,000 Yogic Ryers in the Kosovo region, but Nato continued instead with its bombing. In the meantime the Natural Law Parties of Europe are doing what they can to establish a group of Yogic Flyers in Dubrovnik, Croatia.

Scientific research has shown that the technologies of Natural Law such as Maharishi's Transcendental Meditation and Yogic Rying, when practised by large groups, dissolve stress in society and result in reduced crime, violence and conflict.

Research study published this week validates Natural Law technology

This week a study was published in the peer-reviewed journal Social Indicators Research validating the Natural Law Party's strategy. It found that the rate of violent crime in Washington DC - one of the most crime-ridden cities in the world - fell by 23 percent during an 8-week period in the summer of 1993, when 4,000 Yogic Ryers assembled in the city. Rigorous statistical analyses ruled out an extensive list of alternative explanations, and the odds of this result occurring by chance were less than 2 in 1 billion.

The research was rigorously analysed by an independent 27-member project review board composed of independent scientists and civic leaders who approved the research protocol in advance. Two of their comments: "What we are looking at here is a new paradigm of viewing crime and violence" (Dr. Anne Hughes, University of the District of Columbia). "This work and theory that informs it deserve the most serious consideration by academics and policy makers alike" (Dr. David Edwards, University of Texas-Austin).

Another study, published in 1988 in the prestigious international Journal of Conflict Resolution, found a day-to-day correlation between the numbers of Yogic Flyers participating in an assembly in Jerusalem and the level of intensity in the Lebanon war in August-September 1983.

"Diplomacy will not achieve peace unless backed by Natural Law technology"

Commenting on today's news that the Serb parliament has accepted peace terms, and particularly Tony Blair's statement today that diplomacy will never succeed with Milosevic unless backed by force, Dr Clements said: "Diplomacy never succeeds anywhere unless backed by coherence in collective consciousness - the basis of peace. Naturally we are pleased if the present round of negotiations succeeds, but it will not of itself guarantee peace. The history of the world is the history of broken treaties and failed diplomacy. Since the UN was formed in 1945 to end wars, there have been more than 160 major wars."

Dr Clements said. "Any peace that Nato achieves now by diplomacy or by force will leave a legacy of tension and hatred which will burst out again in the future. The Natural Law Party's solution will satisfy everyone, since it is based on Natural Law which is nourishing to all and which unifies all the diverse tendencies in the universe."
