Mayoral candidate Dr Geoffrey Clements unveils his four-year plan to make London the world’s first
crime-free, pollution-free, stress-free capital city
London, 12 April 2000:
Dr Geoffrey Clements, Natural Law Party candidate for Mayor of London, has unveiled his four-year plan to make London one of the cleanest, safest, happiest and healthiest cities in the world.
"From the old parties we hear the same old pledges with no new hope of success," Dr Clements said. "In contrast the Natural Law Party offers a complete turnaround in the quality of life for Londoners on the basis of readily available technologies and programmes verified by extensive research."
Speaking at a news conference in Westminster along with the Natural Law Party candidate for Deputy Mayor, Richard Johnson, and other Natural Law Party candidates for the Greater London Assembly, Dr Clements outlined the objectives of his first four-year term of office if elected on 4 May:
- Rebuild and rehouse London according to a long-term sustainable plan, starting with four new model zones in currently run down areas of London, using Natural Law-based architecture and planning to develop buildings that promote health; an uncongested transport system; more parks, lakes and recreation facilities; and a stress-free environment where people can work locally taking advantage of modern communications.
- Reduce crime in London by 50% within four years, and eventually create a crime-free society, through scientifically proven Natural Law programmes, such as Transcendental Meditation, that dissolve stress and promote positivity and integration in society.
- Cut pollution by 50% - Provide pure air, pure water and pollution-free transport for all Londoners, through the immediate introduction of already existing technologies, such as electric vehicles, renewable energy, and comprehensive computer co-ordinated traffic flow.
- Quick implementation of non-polluting transport plans, with greater availability of comfortable, inexpensive, rapid public transport
- 50% reduction in unemployment through a focus on training in new skills and educational programmes to develop London's most precious resource, the infinite creative potential of every individual.
- Recycle 50% of waste within four years through recycling schemes that are easy to use and accessible to everyone; encourage the use of natural materials; ban the new incinerators and landfill sites planned by the old political parties, which are known to poison the water, air and soil.
- Reduce sickness by 50% through the promotion of natural, prevention-oriented health care, which is validated through traditional use and scientific research; open new centres for natural health care in every community.
- Create a "GM-free zone" in London - Ban the use of genetically engineered foods in all public institutions because of the grave risks for health and the environment, while actively promoting the growing and marketing of natural, healthy, poison-free, organic produce.
- Administer London on an all-party basis involving the best minds of all political parties and the most successful people from all areas of society, creating a consultative, conflict-free style administration that truly cares for London and every part of its multicultural community.
- Make London the first capital city of world peace - Under the old political parties London has become a centre for the global arms trade and military actions that have spread violence, fear and destruction in the world. The Natural-Law Party is totally opposed to this and will instead establish in London a group of 10,000 experts in Maharishi Mahesh Yogi’s Transcendental Meditation and Yogic Flying, the only thoroughly researched and effective means to create peace and harmony in the world.
Dr Clements appealed to all Londoners: "This election calls for a fresh look at the way we run society. Whether you traditionally vote for one of the old parties, or abstain from voting, ask yourself the question: ‘Has my habit of voting created a better world around me?’ Please examine the policies of the Natural Law Party. Our programmes are verified by over 600 published scientific studies. We can create a London that is healthier, happier, less stressed; a London of which we can be proud and enjoy. The Natural Law Party is the party of the new millennium. Please give us your support and your vote."
Note to Editors: Dr Clements gained his doctorate in physics at Sussex University in 1974. In the last 25 years he has travelled to almost 100 countries meeting leaders of society and pioneering the introduction of Natural Law programmes in the areas of education, health, law and order, business, and administration. He lives in London where he takes a leading role in projects to promote the cultural and economic interests of Londoners.
