IMPORTANT NOTE: The following press statement is of vital importance for the United Kingdom. For too long, national and local government have not fulfilled their responsibilities to the people of this country, as outlined in the statement, and it is time that they were taken to task for this. The Natural Law Party and other organizations are now preparing a number of actions in the UK under consumer protection laws and other regulations in the fields of education, health care, agriculture, defence, etc, to force an end to governmental mismanagement of the nation. THE GOVERNMENT IS A FRAUD AND SHOUD BE SUED UNDER CONSUMER PROTECTON LAWS

• Governments collect taxes claiming to provide good education, effective health care, safe food supply, protection from crime, unpolluted environment and alleviation of poverty - but have failed their people due to the corrupting influence of money in politics
  
  
• Maharishi Mahesh Yogi calls for legal action against governments everywhere for their corruption and irresponsibility, and their failure to provide an ideal administration and prevent their people from suffering problems
  
  
• The people have a right to cry out and take shelter in the justice system of their country when they are needlessly put under constant suffering by their own governments

On 16 July, during a global satellite television address, Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, founder of Maharishi's Global Administration through Natural Law, gave an historic message to the peoples of every nation: "It is your natural birthright to cry out when you are put under constant suffering by the foolish and irresponsible action of your own governments. This crying out of the people is the natural centuries-old response to governmental mismanagement of the nation's life.

"Today, when the government favours only those who give them money, the only recourse of the people is to take shelter in the justice system and sue the government for its fraudulent and corrupt practices, under consumer protection laws."

Maharishi invites patriotic leaders to sue the government

Maharishi invited at least at three or four patriotic leaders in every nation to take immediate legal action against the federal, state or local governments, and to alert the government that the days when they could just do anything they liked without consequences are now over.

Maharishi told the world that those whose educational policies prevent the development of the precious potential of the brain should be sued for violating the right of every individual to enjoy the Cosmic creativity of their own brain. Those whose health policies cause the illness and death of their own people should be sued for their fraudulent health care system. Those whose defence policies spread fear and terrorism, and murder the civilians of other nations, should be put on notice that they are now being held liable, and will go to jail for the mischief they do to human life in the name of political self-preservation.

Maharishi said: "Such law suits will be a test of whether the constitution and the laws of the country favour the life of the consumer-the public-or the corrupted system of government, in which the government will favour only those who give them money."

Public interest organizations invited to join in the suits

Maharishi also invited all organizations that are aggrieved by the fraudulent actions of the government to join this action of suing the government-including parents' educational associations, patients' rights groups, victims of crime, families of war victims, agricultural associations, trade unions, etc.

Governments favour only those who give them money

International President of Maharishi University of Management, Dr Bevan Morris, added: "Government policy today is based upon the flow of money to the government and political parties from special interest groups. As a result, the government ignores scientifically proven solutions to the problems of the nation, which Maharishi has brought to light from the ancient traditions of Vedic Science. More than 600 scientific studies from 200 universities and research institutions in 30 countries have confirmed the benefits of the Vedic Technologies of Consciousness, especially Maharishi's Transcendental Meditation and TM-Sidhi programme, including Yogic Flying.

Dr Morris explained that the knowledge of how to use the total potential of the brain physiology and eliminate the basis of all problems in the country has been made available to every government, but they have not utilized it. This programme is comprehensively documented in Maharishi's book: "Constitution of India Fulfilled through Maharishi's Transcendental Meditation; Maharishi's Constitution of the Universe, Rk Veda-Total Natural Law that Governs the Universe with Perfect Order-Supports Every Article of the Indian Constitution through Transcendental Meditation; Natural Law Upholds National Law through Transcendental Meditation, Documented by Scientific Research".

In this extraordinary book, Maharishi demonstrates that the discovery of the Unified Field of Natural Law-the unbounded field of consciousness-by modern physics and ancient Vedic Science has opened a new gateway to ideal administration for every nation.

"Why," asked Dr Morris, "do governments not adopt Natural Law-based methods of preventing problems, and solving existing problems? Because they do not provide the politicians with a personal financial advantage. Result: A national disaster-disease, crime, pollution, destruction of the soil and the purity of the food supply, misery and poverty especially for many children and elderly people, the constant danger of terrorism and war, and above all bad education, which leaves the country reeling from problems of drug and alcohol abuse, school violence and the crushing of the unlimited creativity of the human brain."

Even a few wise people can change the course of the nation's history.

Maharishi pointed out during his global address that even three or four people in a nation could change the course of history by challenging the government in the courts, just as four people more than 700 years ago gathered by Lake Lucerne resolving to achieve self-rule, leading to the formation of the Swiss nation.

Maharishi said: "I am asking those wise people-three or four in every country-to just test the seriousness and the goodwill of your government by bringing a law suit that the whole population is aggrieved by bad education, by bad quality of health care, by bad procedures of defence.

"I invite these expensive lawyers if they have any sense of patriotism, any sense of life in the world, to sue these fraudulent governments. What is the use of the money these lawyers are amassing? All their money will remain in banks, and they will go out of l ife empty-handed.

"Therefore, I am openly inviting the lawyers from each country to file a consumer protection suit against the government. The knowledge is there for full use of the brain functioning of every individual. But the education system that is established today is fraudulent, absolutely fraudulent. This destructive educational system has been there for centuries, but now they will have to face the judges, to face the law in court.

"I ask the people who have any life in them-for their own sake and for the sake of their children and their neighbours- to test the law of their country to see whether it is for dilapidation of life or for excellence in life."

Maharishi: Total brain development is now possible through Consciousness-based education

"On the basis of this knowledge of the total brain development available in my Consciousness-based education system, each government has the capacity to fulfil the noble aspirations of its own constitution.

"So I am asking the wise of each nation to test in the court of justice whether the constitution is to destroy life of the people or to give them protection from problems. And, on every full moon we will review what country is for life and what country is for destruction of life."

We should all be protected against government's destructive policies by consumer protection law

Every citizen is involuntarily a consumer of whatever the government provides in terms of education, health care, environmental policy, crime policy, defence policy, etc.

So, the CONSUMER PROTECTION LAWS should protect the people against the government's mismanagement in just the way they are supposed to protect the public against dangerous practices in business.

Poverty removal programme

Maharishi has also begun a poverty alleviation programme to improve per capita income in the 33 poorest countries of the world. The programme is being designed by Maharishi with Dr Benjamin Feldman of Maharishi University of Management, Holland.

Dr Feldman said: "The programme has been uniquely designed so that grains of sand become grains of gold. The poorest nations can use their unused lands to grow nourishing organic food for export to the developed nations, thereby generating new wealth to eliminate poverty and improve housing and living conditions of the poorest people of the nation.

"This poverty removal programme is a sweet challenge to every Head of State-take consultation with Maharishi University of Management and alleviate poverty without taking recourse to foreign aid and the loss of sovereignty hat inevitably comes with it."

Maharishi commented: "If a President does not respond to such an effective programme to alleviate poverty, then the people of his nation have the right to challenge him in court."

Maharishi's conclusion

"Governments think they can do anything, but the world has changed," Maharishi concluded. "Now is the time to cry out and sue the government. The people should have shelter in the justice system, and hit the government hard in the courts for their criminal mismanagement of the nation's life.

"We should not take mercy on any government. We are fatigued with making presentations of the overwhelming scientific evidence to governments who take no action. They only laugh and say nothing is possible, because there is no money in this for them. We can only hit them hard on the head in the courts. There should be an end to this disaster of corruption in government sometime."
