Higher intelligence alone is the solution to the fuel crisis
London, 16 September 2000:
Amidst the sea of confusion over the fuel crisis, a new voice has emerged with a new vision to save Britain from its steady decline.
"The dramatic events of the past week highlight the stunning inability of the Government to manage the nation both in the short-term and the long-term," said Dr Geoffrey Clements, leader of the Natural Law Party. "While ministers convene an expert think tank this weekend to work out how to avoid a repeat of the crisis, it is clear that any permanent solution must come from a different level altogether. Human intelligence alone can never govern the infinite complexity of national life effectively. Government must be based on higher intelligence, the total intelligence of Natural Law, which administers the entire universe noiselessly and without a problem. Only then will government be capable of bringing satisfaction to everyone."
Dr Clements pointed out that the Prime Minister and his Cabinet have completely misread public opinion. "The crisis was not due to the actions of just a few blockade leaders. There was widespread sympathy with the protest over escalating fuel prices, because of a general dissatisfaction at the way that the government is running the country and their inability to listen to the people. It is not enough to get tough and deal with people like naughty school children. The basic issues must be addressed in all areas of administration or the Government will soon be put out." "Penny foolish, pound foolish" "Penny foolish, pound foolish is the best way to sum it up," Dr Clements continued. "The Government has got it wrong on every level. In the short term, they have allowed a situation to develop in which petrol prices have risen to an unacceptable level. This is largely due to high taxes, but it also reflects the inability of the UK, EU and other western governments to develop an effective international policy with the OPEC nations. It also shows a dangerous vulnerability due to over dependence on one energy source.
"In the long term, the government had done nothing substantial to move out of the oil industry dominated era with respect to energy, and has done little to divert resources into renewable and non-polluting fuels. In recent years, significant developments have occurred that would easily support a move of energy production and transportation into a new era of efficiency, reduced pollution and low taxation."
Dr Clements emphasised that the present crisis should be used as an opportunity to look into future needs, not just to implement temporary patch-up solutions. "We must exercise our duty as custodians of the planet for now and future generations," he said. "The rapid rise in the demonstrations, and the strength of public sentiment all over the country, and throughout Western Europe, clearly show that government is failing the people. Demonstrators are quick to point out that it is not only the fuel price that is at issue, but health care, education, agricultural policy, fishing policy, and other key areas."
The platform of successful political leadership "Putting another one of the old political parties back in power will not yield any substantial improvement," Dr Clements concluded. "All systems of administration prevalent today are sick, and in constant need of repair. This is why we need administration in tune with Natural Law. The platform of successful political leadership is the Unified Field of Natural Law, which is located within our own self-referral consciousness, Transcendental Consciousness. This alone will transform the basic principles of national life, and raise government to be on a par with the perfect administration of Nature."
