Natural Law Party calls for dissolution of NATO

At an international press conference in London, the Natural Law Party has launched a campaign to dissolve NATO and create in its place a Global Alliance for World Peace based on powerful but peaceful technologies to dissolve conflict and maintain peace in the world. The news conference was linked by telephone to similar events in other NATO capitals. It comes on the eve of the NATO defence minister's important summit in Birmingham, England.

Natural Law Party leaders called on the governments of NATO countries to review their position, withdraw from NATO and stop selling arms. "The time has come to end this situation where a few powerful nations stand by and watch while conflicts develop, and then supply arms, often to both sides. They allow war to develop, and then intervene, directly or indirectly, using outdated technologies that have proved themselves as failures over the past 50 years," said Dr Reinhard Borowitz, Secretary General of the Maharishi International Council of Natural Law Parties which represents Natural Law Parties of over 80 countries. "We propose to have experts to create coherence and harmony in society through Natural Law-based methods that are cost-effective and which are proven to reduce crime, violence and other negative tendencies."

Transformation in Yugoslavia is in spite of NATO

Guest speaker Lt. Col (retired) Gunter Chassé, Defence Spokesman of the Natural Law Party of Germany and a former NATO officer, said: "NATO leaders, who are now claiming a triumph in Yugoslavia, should be aware that their actions over the past two years have served only to delay progress there."

NATO has changed its role

Colonel Chassé pointed out that in recent years NATO has redefined its role in the world from being purely defensive, to assuming the right to intervene wherever it likes. "They have changed from being the defenders to being the aggressors," he said. Geoffrey Clements, leader of the Natural Law Party of the UK, said: "The original reason for forming NATO ­ to protect the West against the Soviet threat ­ has disappeared. But NATO is getting stronger, and everybody should be aware of NATO's constant activity to promote destruction, negativity and warfare in the world.

"Inevitably, the destroyer gets destroyed in the end. NATO's activities invite its own destructive principles to visit our shores 'As you sow, so shall you reap,'" Dr Clements warned.

Natural Law Party's peace programme is based on sound scientific principles

Dr Clements explained that there is only one method that has been shown repeatedly by scientific research to resolve negativity and conflict and create peace, harmony and integration. He pointed to the more than 40 published studies showing that a group of 10,000 experts practising Maharishi Mahesh Yogi's Transcendental Meditation and Yogic Flying would create an indomitable influence of coherence and harmony throughout world consciousness.

"This is a 'field effect' on the level of human consciousness," Dr Clements said. "It is a more powerful technology than electronic or nuclear technologies, because it makes use of the most fundamental level of natural law, the unified field of all the laws of nature. This technology of human consciousness can easily create a phase transition to a peaceful, problem-free world," he said.
